Skankin' Pickle have pay homage to their influences on The Green Album. Each member of the band has a paragraph in the liner notes on their chosen cover. The guitarist praises "Gates of Steel" (Devo), the sax player chooses Bad Manners' "Special Brew," while the perceptive slide trombonist opts for the Bad Brains' "Pay To Cum." The valve trombonist hear something special in Oingo Boingo's "Violent Love," the drummer nods to Stewart Copeland with "Don't Care" and the bassist finds foundation and sustenance in the Gorilla Biscuits song "Start Today." Each member sings his or her chosen tune. The album is filled out with seven more cuts that were previously only available on early demos. This also marks the final Skankin' Pickle project involving saxophonist Michael "Bruce Lee" Park. Not just ska fans can enjoy the treatments. Indeed, they are as much punk as ska.
