MOG Editorial Review
On Nick Jr. show Yo Gabba Gabba!, indie and mainstream acts use their uniquely transcendent sounds to instill children with valuable lessons, from daily routines "brush your teeth, wash your hands" to encouraging words about "trying again." A compilation of the best appearances, this collection features kid-friendly sounds from bands like The Shins, Of Montreal, and Chromeo. Half of the album includes bits that can be recognized from the show (Biz Markie's "Beat of the Day" is especially worth a listen), but, with such an impressive line-up of alternative and underground acts, the album stands on its own.

AMG Review of Music Is...Awesome!
Matt Collar
All Music GuideYo Gabba Gabba: Music Is Awesome collects most of the songs associated with the creative Noggin/Nick Jr. kid show #Yo Gabba Gabba. These songs are intended to evoke both '70s bubblegum pop and modern indie rock with a bit of hip-hop and new wave thrown in. Sung by a cast of costumed creatures and their friend DJ Lance Rock, the songs are designed to get kids to dance and sing while gaining an understanding of things like their emotions ("Don't Be Afraid"), their bodies ("Party in My Tummy"), and the world ("You Can't Always Get What You Want"). Also included are performances featured on the show by such guest artists as the Shins, Of Montreal, and the Roots, all done with a similar have-fun-while-learning aesthetic. #Yo Gabba Gabba is one of the most highly lauded and popular kids shows on television, and Music Is Awesome is a perfect companion soundtrack for kids and parents alike to enjoy.
