If you're looking to throw a Christmas party that reaches the middle ground between classy and fun, you'll find it in the form of this holiday classic, as Frank, Dean, and Sammy provide their swinging takes on Yuletide classics like "Baby, It's Cold Outside." In a way, Christmas classics seem like they were waiting for the Rat Pack's take on them, with the lyrics to tearjerkers like "I'll Be Home For Christmas (If Only in My Mind)" seeming like they could have come straight from one of Sinatra's ballad-heavy albums. Similarly, "Baby, It's Cold Outside" already had a vibe of being playful by duet standards, and the results are as fantastic as expected, just one of many songs that feel reverent without seeming lifeless.

Those who prefer a martini to a glass of egg nog should appreciate Christmas With the Rat Pack. Featuring various Christmas and holiday classics performed by Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr., and Dean Martin, this is a stellar collection that sets an elegantly hip mood. The big surprise is that while the Rat Pack is commonly associated with '60s nightclub irreverance, the tracks compiled here showcase their softer, more reflective sides. Sinatra does his best choirboy take on "The Christmas Waltz" and Martin veritably melts into "Baby, It's Cold Outside." One complaint: A few more Davis cuts could have been included. Nonetheless, Christmas With the Rat Pack is a toasty one.
