If you're trying to find a missing link between disco's heyday in the '70s and its revival over the last few years, you'll find it in the form of Daniel Wang and his Balihu label, which gets a much-needed retrospective of dancefloor perfection this compilation. The compilation kicks off with bona fide '90s classic "Like Some Dream," which also serves as Wang's most popular song. Like many of the other songs (mostly by Wang), it's equally parts disco and Chicago house seen through a modern dance lens, and it's a style that sounds more relevant now than it did in the '90s, though it was impossible not to groove to tracks like "Disco Delay" even then. Though he's passed the torch on to acts like Metro Area and Hercules & Love Affair, Daniel Wang will always be remembered for keeping the spirit of disco alive long before it was cool to do so again.
