After losing a two year battle with cancer, it only seems proper to remember the legacy that singer-songwriter Bert Jansch left behind, inspiring everyone from Led Zeppelin to Nick Drake to Fleet Foxes along the way. At a time when folk music was typified by simple strums of the acoustic guitar, Jansch added a jaw-dropping level of technical skills to folk music, with songs like "Blackwaterslide" still managing to sound soothing despite the complicated strums. When we look back on a folk singer's legacy, we often praise their lyrical prowess, but the songs on Dazzling Stranger show that Jansch was the ultimate exception to this rule.
