This Collector's Choice two-CD set is part of the label's effort to release the V-Disc recordings of several artists after spending decades in the vaults. Originally distributed solely to soldiers and sailors overseas during World War II (in monthly shipments of 78s), these recordings were cut live by the Three Suns in 1945, roughly around the middle of the V-Disc era (1943-1949). The group's pleasant and playful sound combining organ, accordion, and guitar, with occasional vocals lent by Artie Dunn, flourished during the time of their participation in the V-Disc program. This is one of the finest collections of the original trio's work and includes their biggest hits, as well as some of the introductions that the V-Disc artists used in salute to their intended listeners in the armed forces. [This album has been released with two extra tracks as V-Disc Recordings: Musical Contribution by America's Best in 1999]
