If you've heard one of his albums, you know Marvin Sease's schtick. He's not just a ribald loverman, he's really raunchy, delving into double and single entendres for his slow Southern soul grinds. You either dig it or you don't, but if you don't dig it, his 2001 album, A Woman Would Rather Be Licked, could change your mind. Yes, all the typical Sease schtick is in place, but his material and performances are more convincing than usual, and the vulgarity level is toned down slightly (however, the Parental Advisory sticker on the cover is still earned -- although it's hard to imagine what kid would pick up this album). So, even this doesn't deliver full-on, hardcore Sease, this is one of his most satisfying records, at least on a musical level.
