The jumping from one style to another on Jahcoozi's debut album is inevitable, as most of the material was recorded over a three-year span of time and reflects the shifts in IDM and popular electronic music over that span. But Jahcoozi bring to the table an impressive arsenal that shows them to be a versatile trio that can play virtually any style of music. Beginning with the gritty, Dabrye-inspired IDM/hip-hop of the album's opener, "Black Barbie," and working their way through grime, glitch, IDM, and more tracks that sound like they could have been produced by Dabrye, Jahcoozi make this notion more than apparent. Jahcoozi's pop sensibility is what makes them a solid group that could give the most elite of indie electronic producers out there a run for their money, especially with lead singer Sasha Perera's beautiful melodies and double-tracked harmonies.
