MOG Editorial Review
Few singer-songwriters in Italian history were as strange and endearing as Paoolo Conte, and and the various genre excursions on this self-titled record will make you agree even if you don't know a word of Italian. Songs like opener "Avanti, Bionda" may sound like what you'd consider "traditional" Italian music, but he Conte quickly switches to everything from jazz ("La Ricostruzione Del Mocambo") to dramatic pop ("Pittori Della Domencia") without ever feeling out-of-place on the album. This is in large part because of Conte's vocal delivery: over-the-top, silly, theatrical, and heartfelt all at once, something you're bound to enjoy no matter which language you speak.
