Pianist Teddy Wilson's swing style did not change after the mid-'30s, so by the time of this 1979 concert (released for the first time on this 2000 Storyville CD), there were few surprises. Fortunately, Wilson sounds enthusiastic throughout this set of tried and true vintage standards, particularly on such numbers as "Honeysuckle Rose," "Perdido," "Avalon," and "'S Wonderful." Predictable but solid swing music with fine support by bassist Hugo Rasmussen and drummer Ed Thigpen.
