MOG Editorial Review
BoA's been recording since she was 13 in her native of Korea, but her eponymous album is also her stateside debut, full of club tracks that skew toward hip-hop, including the breakout dance single "Eat You Up." What sets her apart from other K-Pop or J-Pop artists is her popularity in both countries, making her a true cross-cultural star. With the ability to speak and sing both languages, the different versions of her songs show just how determined she is to prove her prop prowess around the world. There may be some easy comparisons to American pop stars who have also grown up in the spotlight, but it's not necessarily a bad thing, especially since the experience has paid off in dividends on her latest poised effort.
