MOG Editorial Review
Sometimes a choice endorsement is all a band needs to gain momentum, which was something UK act the Beta Band found out after John Cusack name-dropped The Three EP's in cult classic High Fidelity. Once viewers got a small taste of opening track "Dry the Rain" in the film, it was hard to not resist the Beta Band's spacey sound, especially when that track in particular turns out to be over six minutes of mellow alt-rock bliss. The rest of the songs, which, as the title indicates, come from the band's first three EP releases, sound cohesive despite not being recorded at the same time, with each embracing something of an avant-garde song structure while maintaining a charming Brit pop quality to them. Though the band failed to create a proper album before calling it quits, they didn't really need to because The Three EP's already sealed their legacy as one of the UK's best rock exports.
