    Influenced by Bob Dylan, Billie Holiday, and the Velvet Underground, Californian four-piece Cold War Kids' 2007 debut album Robbers and Cowards is a blustering combination of angular indie, Southern soul, and bluesy rock, fronted by Nathan Willett's powerful, passionate vocals. Produced by the band themselves, along with Kevin Augunas (Lost Prophets), it features the four singles, "Hang Me Up to Dry," "Hospital Beds," "Hair Down," and "We Used to Vacation."
