Just as house and techno were dominating dancefloors here in the states, like-minded phenoms garage and 2-step were taking over across the pond, and Todd Edwards led the movement into exciting places. Collecting some of his finest work for seminal label Nervous Tracks, this compilation will not only make you want to get up and dance to tracks like "So Real," but trace a mental map to modern UK genres like dubstep as well. Distorting vocal samples, using unconventional drum beats, and integrating some of the grooviest horns around, Edwards created songs that were filled with energy and new ideas, even as he reminded people of past eras like disco on standout track "Tomorrow." By the time you get to "Praise," you'll see exactly why dubstep architects like Kode 9 consider Edwards to be a true inspiration... If you're not too busy dancing in your chair, that is.
