Despite kicking off his career at the age of 13, it wasn't until nearly two decades later that Son Seals got his big break. Released in 1976, shortly after his move to Chicago, the master's second album, Midnight Son, combines a traditional blues sound with classic rock and funk influences, creating a uplifting ambiance, despite heartfelt lyrics that are at time dour and downtrodden.
