AMG Review of Duracraft
Murray Cizon
All Music GuideAn interesting EP that attempts to rationalize several of rock's darker genres together, Duracraft straddles the borderlines of goth, new wave, and shoegazer with an obvious love and respect for the basic tenets of each style. The opening track, "Lienzencages," is reminiscent of My Bloody Valentine while the second number, "Memoreyes," is dark, loud, and very brooding with indecipherable screams and analog synthesizer drones. "Fades in Time" changes the mood with a soft lead vocal from Mistina Keith and tightly woven keyboard accents and echoes. Rounding out the disc's final five minutes is the title song which features a driving drum track, minor-key synth melodies, and a noisy fade-out. Although much of this music is an obvious homage to their influences, the Prids do it well with both style and ability.
