Soca 101, Vol. 2 distinguishes itself by not only showcasing classic soca hits by new guard favorites such as Machel Montano and Square One, but also by displaying a healthy mix of old stalwarts such as Sparrow, Arrow, and the late Lord Kitchener. Setting the tone for uninhibited revelry with "Take Ya Clothes Off," the disc builds in excitement, punctuated by Montano's hip-winding "Powder Puff" and Ronnie McIntosh's comical "Ent'." Despite the presence of such contagious new wave rhythms, the standout is Kitchener's wicked and rollicking, decades-old "Bee's Melody."
