AMG Review of Blue
Jason Ankeny
All Music GuideBark Psychosis' final single, recorded only with members Graham Sutton and Mark Simnott, is a radical departure from the experimental atmospherics of the group's previous material; closer in spirit to Sutton's subsequent drum'n'bass work as Boymerang, "Blue" earns points for its adventurous move into dance music territory, but is too much lacking in a distinct identity to rank with the band's strongest work. Rounding out the set are "Hex," a head-on collision between noise abrasion and ambient beauty, and "Big Shot (Alice's Chesire Cat Mix)," an LP track retooled by A.R. Kane's Rudy Tambala.
