The Seeds

Despite only releasing one hit single during their brief tenure, the Seeds remain an iconic '60s garage rock band more for their subtle touches than their commercial success. While early tracks like cult classic "Can't Seem to Make You Mine" have a gritty, blues-influenced feel, the reckless, adrenaline-fueled "You Can't Be Trusted" have more in common with proto-punk than garage-rock proper. Unlike other trailblazers in the late '60s, though, the Seeds had a certain subtlety to their bratty, aggressive style that suggested there was far more than just blind energy propelling their sound, a trait that the best punk bands would later have in common with them.
