Few -- if any -- albums have had so many legends on a single collection. Featuring an all-star cast that also included Miles Davis, Art Blakey, and Hank Mobley, Somethin' Else is a must-listen for any and all jazz fans just based on the names involved, though there's plenty more to enjoy here. Regardless of role, each jazz master does their job beautifully here, whether it's Mobley and Sam Jones keeping a deceptively steady rhythm in the background or, more importantly, Adderley and Davis one-upping each other with their sax and trumpet solos. At the end of the day, though, this is an ice-cold set of bop tracks you're bound to enjoy whether you know who's playing or not.
