The accomplished pop of Bottlefly's debut CD is not surprising. By the time of its release, keyboardist Richie Wermerling had already scored three Top Ten U.K. hits, while bassist Lawrence Addison had worked with Sir George Martin. The band outdoes itself in the production department, however, employing a plethora of unneccessary studio tricks to flesh out the songs. In spite of that, "Umbrella" is an infectious rock & roll single, equaling "Lemoneyez." "Michael Caine," on the other hand, is downright silly, feeling out of character for an otherwise sober group.
