MOG Editorial Review
Along with containing infamous smash hit "All Right Now," Fire and Water was the kind of album that should have catapulted Free to superstardom, containing the rare combination of smoky blues-rock jams that were accessible yet complex, and sprawling without ever losing the plot. The title track, for instance, is heavier and moodier than the single that overshadows it, while "Heavy Load" packs the kind of wallop that should have made them as big as Deep Purple, at least. While the band broke up just a few years after Fire and Water's release, it's hard not to think about what could have been as we rock out to a slice of '70s perfection in the form of "All Right Now."
