The music on this LP has been circulating on Bob Thiele's various labels for decades. Comprised of the first ten selections recorded by Anita O'Day as a leader, these diverse selections find O'Day (when she was 27) singing in several different settings. Two songs (including the atmospheric "Ace in the Hole") are performed with Alvy West and the Little Band (a sextet including an accordion player), while the other eight numbers (highlighted by the eccentric title cut, a multi-tempoed "What Is This Thing Called Love," and "How High the Moon") have the singer joined by larger orchestras arranged by either Sy Oliver or Ralph Burns. Highly enjoyable music.
