AMG Review of Another Piece of Metal: Tribute to Scorpions

Sometime during the late '90s, Dwell Records became almost exclusively a heavy metal tribute album label; by the end of the decade, pretty much all of their high-profile releases were various-artists tributes to metal legends, mostly assembled with bands who had never recorded a full-length album of their own. That's the modus operandi for Another Piece of Metal: Tribute to Scorpions, which features 13 songs originally recorded by the German rockers, including many of their biggest hits. A few of these largely unknown bands do inject some life into their covers, but for the most part, this album's chief audience will be obsessive Scorpions collectors who don't mind hearing versions that hew very closely to the originals.
