AMG Review of Intégrale
Jon O'Brien
All Music GuideA major influence on the likes of Arthur H and Marka, singer/songwriter Boby Lapointe was one of the most successful French cabaret stars of the late '50s and early '60s. Released in 1998, L'Intégrale gathers 51 of the tracks he recorded before his death in 1972, which showcase the unique and humorous wordplay that he became famous for. The two-CD collection includes early hits "Bobo Leon," "Le Poisson Fa," and "Aragon et Castille," the two songs recorded for Francois Truffaut's #Tirez Sur Le Pianiste, "Framboise" and "Marcelle," and a track penned by British conductor Arthur Greenslade, "In the Desert."
