After getting stateside exposure thanks to a choice appearance on the Gorillaz' Plastic Beach, curious listeners will find plenty more hip-hop brilliance from London emcee Kano on Home Sweet Home. Spitting lightning fast rhymes over techno-inspired beats, songs like "Ghetto Kid" show exactly why Kano has become synonymous with London grime nearly as much as crossover success Dizzee Rascal. Unlike Rascal, though, Kano is less concerned with trying to appear hard or depict life on the streets, opting instead to rap about romance ("Nite Nite") and the drudgery of everyday life ("9 to 5"). It's not always glamorous to those of us in America, but it's a necessary one for those looking to discover what English hip-hop is all about.
