As the electronic music community mourns the tragic death of DJ Mehdi, Lucky Boy is a clear remind of the talent we lost, not to mention a showcase for why he had an admirer in the form of Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter. Part of fuzz-laden electro revival in the mid-00s, DJ Mehdi managed to test the genre's while making tunes that were melodic and accessible. Whether it was the smooth synths that provided the foundation for "Signatune" or the Prince influences apparent on the groovy "Hot-o-Momo," it was hard to deny that Mehdi had a unique vision for dancefloor bangers, and that's exactly why we're missing him already.
