Om Records, a San Francisco-based label that has been working very hard the past few years on making itself one of the more respected names in electronica (and even hip-hop, having signed backpackers Strange Fruit Project and Zion I and the Grouch recently), released the second volume of its Om: Miami series in 2007. The compilation follows in the path of its 2006 predecessor, taking house and house-inspired cuts from artists like Greenskeepers, Chuck Love, and Samantha James, as well as remixes from Fred Everything, Trevor Loveys, and Johnny Fiasco. It claims to be for "all types of electronic music enthusiasts," which isn't exactly true -- anyone looking for techno or Microsound or breakbeat is going to be disappointed -- but Om: Miami 2007 is still a good collection of quality house nonetheless.
