Boy am I one sad chica. I was browsing the web the other day, and I came across a documentary on "one of the greatest bands you've never heard of". BEULAH. To my utter shock, I have discovered that this amazing band has broken up. And they did it only a year or two ago. This makes me very upset for a couple of reasons. 1. I get the impression that the reason that they have broken up is because they never made it "big". Sorry, but that is no reason to break up, especially if your fantastic ability to create wondrous music is still going strong. I mean, Death Cab For Cutie didn't hit it big until recently in like 2003 and they had been working since about 1997. Beulah had been working since 1996 and quit in 2004 or 2005. I know it was right after the release of "Yoko". Almost every band, especially one of their style, experiences a time in their band career that their talent goes unnoticed. If this is the case with Beulah, well that is a PATHETIC excuse to give up. 2. Even if you wanted to quit, especially if you're not really that popular, you just kind of disband. You don't go and announce it, spend more money on advertising your disbanding, and then make a documentary about it. I can guarantee that more people heard of their documentary and them breaking up than they did about them when they were making music. I mean, everyone in Wilco basically cannot stand each other, well, they can't stand Jeff Tweedy, but HEY they are STILL touring!!!! Seriously. I know that I am not crazy and that this should not have occured, especially if the above 2 reasons rang true. They really are amazing and their songs are just brilliant. Farewell, Beulah. :-(
