Sadness
Its always sad when a band breaks up. One of my favourite local Cork bands The Buds decided to go their separate ways recently. They have been around for 10 years and are burned out from the touring and playing small Irish venues. It always surprises me when such an amazing band doesn't get picked up by a label. That unfortunately is one of the worst thing about the Irish music scene at the moment. Really good bands just aren't being spotted. Its rare for a new rock band to make it big in this country. Snow Patrol have made it big lately after 10 years of slogging it they got a break and released a great album and some great songs. The Buds played their last gig last Saturday night and I was lucky enough to be invited along by the band to shoot the gig and it was one of the best gigs I have been to in awhile. They really rocked the place! In the middle of the gig the band played a slideshow of bands history with a friend of theirs telling the story and photographs taken of and by them over the years. It got emotional towards the end when fans and the band knew they would never be playing the songs live again. All in all the band were happy the way the gig went, there was a nice turn out. The sound was perfect and they nearly took the roof off the place!I have a couple of shots of the gig that will be attached at the end :)
