Sorry for the wait

As I said before, sorry for the two month break from MOG. Various things led me to leave but mostly that I couldn't update and post songs. I was furious because I want to share my love of these new tracks. Of course I am still in love with Feist, who I am going to see, as well as the Boss on monday. Fuck YEAH!! So this is Kevin Drew, member of extrordinary band's solo project (basically a BSS) album) with only one man singing.

Have Ears, Will Listen to New Shit

So as of this moment, I am feeling a little behind my game. My wallet, as usual so close to being empty, accidently drifted into the red, and as I hung was getting my check card rejected, my sister was calling me about the new Tegan and Sarah. So I went home, because free food was calling as was the new album, The Con. I know i've only gave reviews or mentions to basically albums I consider "Stunners". Its a fucking great record, so adult and much more dark and much improved from their last two. I loved both of them, but then this is a different work- it's obviously Tegan and Sarah (except track 5) but it's definitly different-and awesome, and more complex.
What's amazing about the record also is it's co-colaberaters. I am definitly one of those people who listens to a band a year, I suck them in and then regergitate. Occasionally I get to return, but not that much. So in order I will regergitate the bands of my High-school listening career.
Freshman Year-Weezer
Sophomore Year- AFI
Junior Year- Led Zeppelin
Senior Year- Death Cab
So anybody seeing a repeating theme in terms of "The Con"? Hunter Bergen (AFI) is definitly playing bass through most of it, Jason McGeer (DCFC) is definitly drumming, Matt Sharp (Old-school Weezer) is definitly doing something crazy and Chris Walla is definintly all over the record including being behind the boards. It's like Tegan and Sarah have the exact same taste as me...
Speaking of my taste, recently I've become enamored with a female named Laura Viers. While I've not listened to the majority of her albums, her approach is awesome, Pink Light is inspired, and here is a little video of her playing the triple door in seattle. While there is like a 2 minute interview before watch the video to get to the song. Her drummer, Tucker Martine is her producer and he also produced the Crane Wife. So here is "Pink Lights" by Laura Viers.

Also if anyone knows how to import songs on a Mac, I am having tones of trouble! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

What Have I Done?

So remember how I said that Jenny Lewis was being replaced by Leslie Feist- I lied. I was searching over records that I've stolen and came across Jenny's solo album. Country infused down to the core, she definitly wrote one of the best songs I've ever heard. I probably say that about a lot of stuff but this time, I hope I am not lying to myself. I hadn't listened to Jenny since I saw her at the Showbox, and then hadn't remembered how beautiful her voice is. It's probably one of the greatest female voices I've ever heard. Driving home, I just repeated this song over and over again. Basically the chorus almost brings tears to my eyes, not because of the deepness of the song, but because some of the notes just seem to work. But then again, the guitar (geetar) playing in Tenacious D made me laugh, so maybe these 14 notes can do anything...

In Our Bedroom

So for those of you haven't been aware, Canada is certainly growing on me. I can tell you the very day my love affair began with our neighbors to the north, and that was November 18th, 2005. I was going to see my favorite band from the northern city of Bellingham, and they had chosen a band called "Stars" to open for them. When the stars got on stage, i was prepared for anything, but i wasn't prepared for strings. Eventually I had to turn to my concert buddy and say "This is the most beautiful thing I've ever heard" and ever since then "Set Yourself on Fire" has been in constant rotation on my Ipod's hard disc and the cd player called my mind. I know i've said it before, but you are not a real person till you pick up that record.
That being said, after 2 years touring and doing side projects and shit- the Stars are back with "In Our Bedroom After the War" (one of the greatest titles I've ever heard). They have a new single, and that is what I am going to play for you right now...

Roderick

I've been listening to the Long Winters on and off for about 3 months. Because of my serious lack of funds, I only have about ten songs, but the more I listen the more I am convinced that John Roderick is the best Pop song writer to come along in at least the last 20 years. He is just that good. I highly suggest that you guys run out and get a hold of anything with "The Commander Thinks Aloud" because again it is just that good. I heart the Long Winters basically... I'll post a few pictures of them when they were at sasquatch (MAINSTAGE BITCHES)!!

Not that you can tell, but apparantly laying down the drums is one Benjamin Gibbard. Who cares though? (I kinda do, but i will pretend that I don't)

Sweden is lovely

So the band Loney, Dears started out as the bedroom project of the Swede Emil Svanangen. And when I say literally the bedroom project, I don't just mean the DYI attitude of pretty much everybody who deserves respect- I really do mean it. He started recording in his bedroom at his parents house, which I just think is fucking awesome. So far he has recorded 5 albums with the most recent one being the only available in the 48 contigous states- the rest are stuck over in Europe.
My sister and I saw Loney, Dears as our first band on Sasquatch, and I must tell you they were pretty awesome. I'll post some pictures as well.

In other weak sauce moves, my album copy won't upload, so theres the live version.

Hello all

It feels like it's been forever when I've posted but everyday is a new day. So far this summer I've bought the "Eternal Sunshine of A Spottless (Spotless?) Mind" soundtrack and the new Blue Scholars. Lately my obsessions have been HDTVS and I really want the Stars' new album which is all remixs of "Set Yourself On Fire" (one of the greatest records of 2005 I highly recommend going to any store that has it and picking it up- you might regret it at first, but after cursing my name you will realize it's brillance). I saw this music video on VH1 a couple weeks ago, and basically it is one of my favorites of all time. It's directed by Patrick Daughters, which can account for all of it's brillance. He is the guy who does all the crazy Yeah Yeah Yeah's music videos, and definitly directed my least favorite Death Cab music video to date. You win some, and you lose some. And so without further ado, it's Feist with "1 2 3 4"

Adieu

Leslie Feist is slowly taking Jenny Lewis' place in my heart, but erasing someone you love is very hard. She (Feist) also a member of Broken Social Scene, so if you can get a hold of their last album (the one with all the buildings on it) and would like to hand it to me for free, I would forever be in debt. Canada is certainly growing on me...

PPS Sorry about the video quality, the majority of the videos for this music video have really shitty sound, while great picture. This is vice versa. Everything is pretty fucking confusing isn't it?

David Bazan

So I saw Ben Gibbard and Co. a couple weeks ago. It was satisfying, and while I didn't get any pictures, or recordings of the concert it was pretty sweet. I don't have much to say else but that, but Bazan did a pretty awesome version of his own song. Also, I am embedding a pretty awesome video as well.

Bands

So there are bands, and then there are Bands. The Monkees were a band, the Beatles were a Band. Motley Crue was a band, Led Zeppelin was a Band. 90% of what you hear on the radio is bands, but the Arcade Fire is a fucking Band.

I saw them at Sasquatch last night, and basically all the bands before that were nothing compared to that great show. I am still breathless thinking about it.

ps. If you really think that I am listening to the Spider-Man 3 soundtrack, you'd be kinda right- That Yeah Yeah Yeahs song is awesome, i can' get past it and everytime i want to i end up putting it on repeat

I personally don't understand what is going on in this song. He's talking about dogs, and screaming and its just some crazy mixture of instruments that I've never heard before. I know there is guitar, and a bass and some drums but i don't understand it. I don't actually think the riff changes through the whole song, but its still just weird.

And I dig that.
