Best Pop Band in America?

Posted over 5 years ago
In buying some tickets for the REM tribute show at the 40 Watt on Tuesday, I came across Modern Skirts. They are a piano-driven pop band from Athens, GA that is absolutely going to blow the doors off of the American music scene. They have the hooks and indie appeal of The Shins with the radio-friendliness of the Beach Boys. I can't wait to see them in person. They are going to be everywhere in a few months.I encourage you to catch them while you can. Maybe I'll see you Tuesday night at the REM tribute show. Five Eight will be there also! Jess Horrible brought it up in the comments below...the whole album can be previewed here: http://www.modernskirts.com

  2. aezell says Seriously, this band has it all. I listen to so much music that it is rare that an album gets more than two or three listens and I've had this thing on repeat in iTunes for a week. It's simply perfect.

  6. Eclectic Chick says I caught Modern Skirts in March at a local hole in the wall during SXSW. I felt so bad because their set was at 2pm and there were maybe 10 people in the bar. I have to admit that I became a HUGE fan, not just because "seventeen dirty magazines" is such an addictive ditty, but they were also really nice guys. go see them in Macon or Charlottesville (they're from Georgia) if you can.
