One Month's Radio Silence

Posted almost 5 years ago
June is almost over. I can't possibly let a whole month go by without posting something on Mog, even if it's only for my own benefit. So, why have I not written for over a month? Why isn't HD week over yet? Why have I not been to any gigs? Why oh why haven't I bought any music for what feels like an age? I'm skint and busy - buzy with work, busy and skint with moving house.I don't know what the experience of moving house is like in the States, but here in the UK... let's just say that there is plenty of opportunity for stress. Right up until almost the last minute, someone can pull out or cause a delay. I've been told that our move is going relatively smoothly and quickly, but we're still in a kind of limbo, knowing that something is going to happen soon, but not knowing when. But - some good news. I've decided that when we eventually move that we will step out of the nineties and get ourselves a faster connection at home than the usual Dial-upMaybe I'll get to browse and post to Mog a bit more often.

  2. ivylander says The process of changing address is just as fraught here. We did it three years ago after 17 years in the same place, and even though it went relatively smoothly (no haggling over price, a problem-free inspection, et al) there was that moment when we discovered, 48 hours before the closing, that the mortgage broker had forgotten to include state taxes and a couple of other things to the closing costs, which suddenly went up by five grand (which we didn't have). That made things lively.Plus there was the process of cleaning out a place where you've spent 17 years accumulating....what, exactly? No, this is the last move we ever make. I can only imagine what the really bad ones are like. You are in our prayers, friend.....
