No-one has posted anything on Judee Sill yet, but I think a few of you have got tracks by her in your collections. This is something that would never turn up on my auto "songs I'm listening to" thingy (if I ever get it working), because the only Judee Sill I have is on tape. It's a delicious recording - I have to confess to being partial to tape hiss and vinyl crackle - of a few of her tracks from my dad's copy of her eponymous first album. All I've got is "the lamb ran away with the crown", "lady-o" and "Jesus was a crossmaker" but as far as I remember, the rest of the album is just as sweet.I feel very guilty using "other tags" to put Nick Drake down, because I am sure that it is such a cliched and lazy thing to put in... But there: I've done it now. There are parallels - both a bit tragic, both relatively "undiscovered" for a while (although I haven't noticed many attempts to plunder Judee's back catalogue yet). Both with understated acoustic guitar. Both sort of folky. Both early 70s. Both _very_ beautiful.So. I've decided I need to get some of her music for myself. There are only two albums - "Judee Sill" and "Heart Food". If anyone's out there who can help - should I get the two as they are, or is the "Asylum Years" compilation worth it for the extra stuff?
