WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

my two favourite new bands....

Posted over 2 years ago
these are my two favourite new bands. first up is a band who's debut 'let me introduce you to my friends' was released in europe last summer and is out in the states in a few weeks. ladies and gentlemen i bring you 'I'm from Barcelona'.this song goes by the name of 'we're from barcelona' and serves as a good introduction to the swedish 29-piece. YES 29-PIECE. obviously the sheer number of people involved will draw comparrisons to the polyphonic spree, and the band do match the spree in terms of pure joy on display, but for some reason i personally am reminded of belle and sebastian when i hear 'im from barcelona'.after playing the above video to a friend of mine, she suggested i check out my second favourite new band for today. id heard of 'Architecture In Helsinki' a while ago, but for some reason had never given them a chance, but after seeing the below clip i was sold. anyway guys i hope some of you lot enjoy my recomendations. if nothing the video for 'were from barcelona' will bring a smile to your face.

  2. adam judy says sleep??! whats that?? hehe. an update on the sleep situation- i got up at 6am this morning after 3 hours sleep with the view that ill go to bed as late as possible tonight and get up early again tomorrow. my theory being that i will be super tired and then steadily eas myself into a steady routine. basically im thinking i wanna be so exhausted that i can pick and choose when to sleep. its actually kinda working, albeit in a slightly unorthodox manner!

  6. Jack Still says Architecture in Helsinki are one of my favorites, I agree that In Case We Die is a completely wonderful album. As for I'm From Barcelona, I haven't had a chance to give the album a really thorough listen yet, but I am really liking what I've heard. And both of those videos are effing rad. Let's hear it for bands named after cities!

  9. charlottez says architecture in helsinki is some good shit. they're also really really awsome live. and to top it off, they're cool people. i got to hang out with them after their set and not only do they have lovely australian accents, but they're quite nice and truly unique people. so a++ on listening to AIH. on the i'm from barcelona front, i saw a little blurb about them in some magazine, i think spin, and i looked them up. i really liked the songs i heard, but have yet to download the album. was it worth the buy??

  10. adam judy says i didnt actually buy it, i borrowed it from a friend an it found its way onto my ipod, but will be purchased as soon as i can find a copy. its really good actually, in an uplifting sorta way. i cant imagine its gonna be perfect for all occasions, but mood wise id stack them against someone like gogol bordello, sorta good for certain times, but possibly irratating after a while. i didnt realise that architecture where australian, i thought the woman sounded english or something, but couldnt put my finger on it.
