i am not into every single thing mike patton does, trust me when i say that. however, i have respect for everything he does. luckily, i like about half of everything he does, so that makes me a fairly lucky person.i am not crazy about every fantomas record, like say the self-titled for instance. fuck that record. suspended animation, different story but i have to say, had i not have seen it performed live i would not have thought so highly of it. but directors cut... wow. the first time i played that record i listened to it 12 times in a row, no shit.flawless victory.amazing production, ambitious as hell, pounding, pounding, pounding... and the idea of taking on this project... if you are not familiar with this record or what it is about, directors cut is the fantomas redoing their own versions of film scores. they use some of the original music, but just a sliver. to some people this might sound dumb, but most people are dumb and don't see the art of this. to say that you are going to redo the music for the godfather with the guy from slayer and the guy from the melvins, well you would just be setting yourself up to make an ass out of yourself, but to pull it off?once again, this record probably isn't for everybody. if you are dumb, you won't get it. if you like metal you will be mad about all the changes, and if you are a pussy if is just going to be too pounding for you to take. however, if you are smart and you know that i know what i am talking about, at the very least go download the following tracks:cape fearrosemary's babyinvestigation of a citizen above suspiciontwin peaks: fire walk with me
