I can not get enough of Islands album Return to the Sea.
Usually, after listening to an album to death because it is so great, I don't want to hear from it for another year. Listening to it again will churn my stomach.
But not with this album. Each time I listen, I get excited to hear it over and over again.
This album is a true rarity, and I want to marry it.

It's deep into summer, and that means it is time for a delightful summer mix CD. Follow these simple instructions to asemble Summer Smiles for Boys and Girls!

Pitchfork is great for reading music news that doesn't involve any American Idols. It is great for finding recommendations for great new music, like Wolf Parade and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah.
As far as their music reviews go, they must be taken with a grain of salt. While they may have valid points, so much of music is objective. If you are deeply engrossed in an artist's music, it often times will not matter if their newest work got a so-so or bad review.
All that being said, boy did the newest Strokes album stink. Right on, Pitchfork.

There was an article in the City Pages about Pitchfork, and it was disturbing how spot on they were about how people hate it and know it's pretentious and dumb, but read it regardless of that and treat it as a valid source of information about music. Which it kind of is. God dammit.
I have so much trouble these days trying to keep track of who is good and who is evil and who is right and who is wrong and who is cutting edge and who is passe.
In the past two years I haven't been able to pay attention to what they say on Pitchfork anymore.
It's like they know what to review, but don't really know what to do after that point.

That's a great feeling to have with music.
