The Finns continue to make great great music. I just love hearing his voice, it's got so much emotion in it.
Emotion is right on John! such a long way from the early Spltenz but you can hear remaining traces. Recently Splitenz remormed and most of NZ didnt get a shot at seeing them, dam shame.
Huh. Seeing this video made me think about seeing Split Enz on probably their first date in Britain. I was invited by the record company and I bet everyone else there was as well. They were, umm, hard to understand, though some songs were obviously good. It probably all makes a lot more sense now. When you say most NZers couldn't see them, is that becuase they are now mega-famous die to Crowded House?
I wouldnt go as far as die to anyone but I felt a bit sad that after all those years of Kiwi's supporting their crazy antics and buying their music it would have been a good gesture to gift it back, maybe they are/have and I didnt notice. Way back they made all their clothes and even an Auntie of one the members did a tap dance routine. They were very unusual back in the day, as a young fella I thought they were great, very influetial. I still listen to the first two albums Mental notes and Second thoughts often
Ooops: that should have been "mega-famous due to Crowded House". Re-reading my comment I'm amazed at how sloppy I was. I was trying to ask the question, whether NZers couldn't see them because, being popular now, tickets for local gigs had sold out really fast. But you're saying they couldn't be arsed to play to their home crowd, if I follow your fingers correctly. Take comfort at least that the Finns still live in NZ (I think-- hope!). The number of Australians who live either in LA, Miami, or London is pretty staggering.

Didn't one of the members of Crowded House commit suicide a few yrs back? I'm almost positive about that, but I can't look it up rt. now----anyway, I love them, and I did not know that Split Enz had reformed. I liked them, too (waaaay back) but I was more familiar with Crowded House later (From Split Enz I mostly just remember "I Got You")
