I posted Oviedo by Blind Pilot the other day and loved it so much that I wanted to know a bit more about these guys..
A Portland-based duo singer/guitarist Israel Nebeker and drummer Ryan Dobrowski, Blind Pilot seem to strike a balance between mellow folk and West Coast indie pop.
The two friends first banded together in college before combining their musical talents and touring the northwestern Oregon circuit.
In 2006 they decided that a change of scenery might help fuel their songwriting. so they moved north of Portland where they spent a few months inside a warehouse recording demos for a full-length album.
After being locked away, Nebeker and Dobrowski decided a "bike tour" (the non powered variety) was in order (as you do!!) that saw them traveling from Vancouver to San Francisco, playing shows and selling EPs along the way.

The guys often have many other local Portland artists on stage with them at their shows... trumpet, several violins, banjo, guitar, drums and upright base sometimes all in a single song...
This is their video for "Go On Say It", off their debut album "3 Rounds and a Sound" on Expunged Records.
I am really enjoying Blind Pilot and will be watching them with great interest.

loved this band, I am fairly certain that terrain looks familiar and fits well wit the story of North of Portland, somewhere along the Columbia River. Great location for this song/video. I want to see them live here, missed them at the NW Music Fest this year, snapping fingers!
if you do happen to see them it would be great if you could post on it... I was having a read about what they were up to just last night and they seem to be off on their bikes again.. playing gigs as they go...
