Yep there's Something in the Air... Aussie movies rock

I heard this a few days ago for the first time in a long time and now I cant stop singing it :-).. its always had that effect on me..
It was part of the soundtrack of the Aussie movie 'The Dish'... a terrific film and aussie humour as only it can be....
But its also a true story... did you know that when Apollo 11 was just about to land on the moon in 1969 the US tracking base lost its ability to relay the TV feed.. and so even though the Oz sateliite dish wasn't in the right sphere to provide feed... they did and gave the world its footage of the first moon landing and moon walk... all from the centre of a sheep paddock in Parkes a little town in the middle of nowhere.
After I posted this I realised - I forgot to mention that 'Lenka' one of my fav aussie artists is also in this movie... she plays the part of Julia (I think thats her name) who is the mayors daughter... only realised it right at the end... she must have only been 16 or so at the time...
Call out the instigators
Because there's something in the air
We've got to get together sooner or later
Because the revolution's here, and you know it's right
And you know that it's right
We have got to get it together
We have got to get it together now
Lock up the streets and houses
Because there's something in the air
We've got to get together sooner or later
Because the revolution's here, and you know it's right
And you know that it's right
We have got to get it together
We have got to get it together now
Hand out the arms and ammo
We're going to blast our way through here
We've got to get together sooner or later
Because the revolution's here, and you know it's right
And you know that it's right
We have got to get it together
We have got to get it together
Amen to that!!!!!

lol...never liked that song...sorry :-( As for The Dish, I'll definitely check it out...the subject sounds very cool :-) I just realized that I haven't seen an Aussie film since Rabbit Proof Fence, which I absolutely loved, but it got me thinking...was it actually an Aussie film or was it British (or even American)?? The Peter Gabriel sountrack just made me question that...do you know the answer, Zen?
Rabbit Proof Fence definitely an Aussie movie... The Dish is great and another movie called The Castle is one of the funniest Aussie movies ever made... definitely check that one out...
As for Thunderclap... it was a blast from the past... the soundtrack also has Wilson Pickett and the Union Gap... I couldnt help myself but sing along... which is somewhat painfui...lol...:-)
I'll definitely check them both out...I'm kind of a movie nut...especially Indies or foreigns....but I now remembered a more recent Aussie movie I saw that was also pretty cool...The Proposal! My girlfriend hated it though lol...guess it's kind of a guy movie :-) Thanks again for the tips!
Well an Aussie movie your girlfriend will love and you should get a great laugh out of as well... Priscilla Queen of the Desert!!!! A must see...
Aussie movies? sure.

Yes I saw your post... and your excellent background info... but the damn song is stuck in my brain at the moment... so I had to post it in relation to the moofie!!! :-)
smart song :-)
There isn't much else in there at the moment at all so its just a rattlin around...
:-)
So, if the tune ALWAYS has that effect on you in that you can't stop singing it, then you should have been still singing it since the last time you heard it. So when the tune is rattling around in your head, that doesn't count as the last time you heard it?
Oh and you also should listen to other songs. There's lots out there...really.
Sorry to correct you... hmm.. no Im not!!! :-) but that particular song only rattles around the vast expanse inside my noggin until the next one hits and then the other that ALWAYS has an effect is pushed far back into the abyss only to re-emerge when it is heard again...
But thank you for the thought... :-)
You know, I remember this song, and I remember liking it a lot, but I never thought much about who sang it....anyway, I'm glad you posted it----now I know! :)
Hey AJ.. as always you are very welcome petal!!! :-)
Since I just re-read this post, I had to add that it was Gary Puckett & The Union Gap, not Wilson Pickett...just to set the record straight :-) I've still gotta see those films though!
