WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Grizzly Bear's Triumphant Return

Posted 5 months ago

Tonight was the second night of Grizzly Bear's return to San Francisco... It's also the end of their American Tour... (although they will be playing Pitchfork Fest and a few additional shows... lucky Brooklyn gets a FREE show in August!)... I did the poster for the shows... (which I've posted here)... It might be tough to tell... but the charms on the necklace represent the three proper albums... and the snow globe contains the San Francisco skyline... (Summer can get quite chilly here!) I first saw them when they opened for Fiest at The Fillmore (I also did the poster for that show). Their music has matured beyond measure...

The first night was fantastic at The Fillmore. The place was packed. The sound was perfect and Grizzly Bear did not disappoint. They opened the set with "Southern Point" (which I've posted here), my favorite track off the new (and brilliant) album, Veckatimest. From there, things just took off... Great versions of Two Weeks and Deep Blue Sea were the other highlights for me, but every song was beautifully crafted from the delicate to thundering... I'm sure most of you have seen the video for Two Weeks (I'll attempt to post it here, but they're inexplicably pulled with regularity...) If not, get thee to a search engine and find it... brilliant stuff.
