Well... the MYSTERY post is back... This one features some of the best musical satire I can ever recall... This send up of Fountains Of Wayne is pitch perfect... Fans of Fountains of Wayne should love this... and anybody who plays or produces music will love the "behind the scenes" look at the crafting of a song... any guesses who this is?Now... we all know that the internet is one-click answer machine... but please don't spoil it... If you don't know, feel free to take a guess... if you know, then feel free to post "I know this one"... In any case... give it a listen... it's well-worth it...I'll reveal the answer in the comments soon...

In the off chance that you've never heard Fountains of Wayne (imagine that!)... Here's the standard tune that will allow you to play the game... Here's "Stacy's Mom"...

...also... there are lyrical clues in the "Fountains of Wayne Hotline" song that will help with the guessing process... but I have a feeling most people will still go "who?"

Wow, that's a beautiful poster up there, ZenP. I'm useless when it comes to charades and other guessing games.
So I'll just enjoy the music which is a brilliant pastiche of Fountains of Wayne.
(a 5* post - most certainly)

Hey, your idea is just brilliant. There's even an artist lounge for Mystery. I'll try to come up with some mystery artists just to gather more people in that lounge: http://mog.com/music/Mystery

Robbie Fulks, isn't it? I wouldn't know about him otherwise, but the song is a couple of years old, and I ran into it around then.
Even if there's no band called Mystery, a "Mystery" artist lounge is created if you make a post that has "Mystery" as the artist tag. Whether such an artist lounge would come up in searches is a bit spotty in my experience, though.

Thanks for the comments...
yup... Robbie Fulks... I guess that's far enough down the thread to work...
Robbie Fulks is an amazing "alt-country" artist... ...you may or may not know about him... made a stir with his "ode" to Nashville called "Fuck This Town"... He's covered the gauntlet from old country to edgy pop and has done it with lyrical flair... well worth investing some time...

I'm not looking at any of the previous comments here before I make my guess, which is: Weird Al Yankovic "Fountains Of Wayne Hotline" but don't know the album. Great song, it made me literally laugh out loud! This is fun, thanks Zen.

Did sound like Robbie Fulks...a bit...though he does the FoW whine pretty well, really. Would have been my third guess or so, though -- he's not a name that jumps to mind so quick. The song is hilarious; thanks for sharing it.
