WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

King Kong of Pop

Posted over 2 years ago
..Okay... my knowledge of this band is pretty thin... but what I do know is that... you, too, can become part of "our little secret" of a great pop band from Minneapolis...I first heard of Walker Kong (a band. ...not a guy... or a Texas Ranger) when I got a free download of "Battleship of Thieves"... that's one of two songs I'm posting... They're both fantastic in their own way... I couldn't get either song out of my head for a while (and why would I want to, anyway?)..Treat yourself and give a listen to both songs... you'll be happy you did. ..

  1. ZenPop says ...and so with a title like "King Kong of Pop" you're probably wondering why I have an illustration I did of a BeeGirl holding honey.... . . which leads us to the second gem from this excellent band... Check out (love this title) "Andy Warhol & The Honey Bees" from their newest cd, "Deliver Us From People"... enjoy! . .

  2. crthead says Pretty good stuff, reminds me a little of Robyn Hitchcock in that last song, quirky title and he sounds a bit like him. Also, the last song, it started and ended like "Lust For Life" by Iggy Pop

  8. ZenPop says Thanks for all the comments, gang! I don't know about the name, Sturg... You probably know Minny a lot better than I do... but it sure sounds plausible...

  9. Mike the Knife says The first song and arrangement are a wee bit on the Andy Partridge/XTC side, and that's good. A find!

  10. Marigold says How do I not know about this band? I live right here in Minneapolis and I have never even heard of them. Rest assured I will make an effort to check them out the next time they play in town. Thanks a lot for the heads up. On a funny side note. I have been trying to respond to this post for a day and a half now. Every time I get to it, I get side tracked with a phone call or something shinny. Oh hey! Something shinny......
