..I'm in a VERY HAPPY mood because my New Yorker cover (I created the concept and the initial designs... one of which, is above) was named as COVER OF THE YEAR by the American Society of Magazine Editors this morning!... the info can be found at magazine.org or on my website........so... Here's a tune that always makes me happy... ...and it's a "COVER" version (get it?... you do?.. oh.) It's the nicest, sweetest version of "Anarchy In The UK" you've ever heard, by Dealership... ..

Great news. I saw this on your site. My husband gets the New Yorker, and I remember seeing the final. You would have my vote..but then I am biased.
BTW, we three are going to go to see Emma on the 11th...we might see you there.

Thanks for the kind words!...
So many people have inspired and influenced me that it's pretty nice to hear that being said about your work...
...you will see me there, annie!... I just got tickets... (Looking forward to Emma Pollock.... and hoping people don't keep yelling out Delgados tunes at her... unless she asks for requests!)

Man that's just too cool, ...you know what they always say? "Just to be nominated is an honor in itself" Screw that!!! I hope you kick ass and take names later.

I can't even begin to say how THRILLED I am for you John... a title WELL DESERVED !!! (& am especially fond of the version you have above... have told many friends & family about it actually) !!!
I got your poster today - It's even *LOVELIER* in person !!! Will write a proper thank you tomorrow promise... but I wanted you to know it made it here safely, as did a little girl & her bear (too thoughtful)... now it's time for me to grab my bears & head to bed :)
JUST OVER THE MOON !!!!! :)

Damn is that Phillipe Petit..(spelling)All those building climbers and walkers in the 70's were heroes of mine. What a cool and thought provoking cover.
Congrats..that's a great honor.

I originally read that as **nominated for Cover of the Year** but you actually won, how awesome!! I guess this means your going to be getting a ton of more job requests!! Kudos.

...and again, I thank you all...
whoa!... We just had a pretty big earthquake.... I'm in San Francisco and my apartment was shaking.... yikes...
...okay... breathe in... breathe out... relax...
...radio called it a "moderate quake" of 5.6... but they're saying they felt it into Modesto in the Central Valley.....
okay... where was I?...
ah, yes... I'm glad you got the poster, Lizzie!... Cheers!
and... yes, Cody... that was based on Phillipe Petit!... Owen Smith's final version is amazing...

Woo-to-the-hoo, Z.P.! An image that resonates - one to conjure with...
And that Pistols cover is always a delight. I likes it like I likes Nouvelle Vague's similar exercises in dulcet revision.

Kudos to you, it's an excellent cover indeed. I love the artwork. Scoring the cover for _The New Yorker_ is a boon in itself, but winning the award must be a delicious cherry on top. Congratulations!
Yikes about the quake. Stay safe!
ZenPop says
Thanks again!... I'm engaged in a twenty-four hour blush-fest at the moment... and you all are too kind...
...the thing about quakes is... you never know how big or small they're going to be... This one lasted a LOOOONG time... (and if it was only 20 seconds, you think it's no big deal... but look at your watch and pretend the ground and your apartment is moving... five seconds feels like a year... but in this case... hopefully... it only released some stress on the ground... nobody seems any worse for wear...
Cheers!

That's a brilliant cover painting. I subscribe to the New Yorker, and save some of the covers (like Mark Ulriksen's) but I never saw yours. It must have been lost in the mail. What date was it?
I also love that Dealership cover track.
ZenPop says
Hey Spike... thanks.. My illustration above was my final comp submitted to The New Yorker... the actual cover was done my Owen Smith... (it featured a double cover... the front piece had the tightrope walker on a white cover... then on the next page you see the Manhattan skyline...) ...and I'm friends with Mark Ulriksen... He's a good guy and an amazing artist... I love his covers...)
...and thanks Kaleef... much appreciated.

Hollee crap. That's awesome dude. Big congrats. Just having a cover for the New Yorker is like a dream to me. Awesome job. That cover song is way cool too. Anarchy sounds so serious when it's twee.
