The Mars Volta's new album quietly came out on Tuesday. Quietly in that there doesn't seem to be much buzz here about it, and quietly also in the way the record sounds. A lot of the songs are very subdued compared to other releases of theirs such as The Bedlam in Goliath. It's an album that really takes it time in creating in sonic textures rather than being always crazy and in-your-face. I really like it a lot. Like their other releases it should be listened to in its entirety rather than sprinkled across your shuffle, but I'm only gonna put one song on here anyway. Hope you like it:

given the plethora of choices people are inundated with (in terms of audio diversion) its pretty tough for anything or one to generate any kind of buzz. Buzzes these days generally start as a low level hum, and if they are truly buzz worthy, they gain their traction (if they don't drown first. :-(
good stuff
That's a pretty good point. The Mars Volta is a pretty big name, though, or at least they used to be. I don't think they've gotten FM radio play since "The Widow".
