This is a very underrated singer-songwriter from Sacramento in the States. I picked up this record when I was in New York last March. I had it a couple of years ago but lost it when moving out somewhere along the line.
I remember when I first bought it and loved the delicate and uplifting vocals, it came out in the UK around the same time as The Flaming Lips 'Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots'. Unlike the Flaming Lips commercial success seemed to eluded Jacob Golden. I can't understand why either he has a voice somewhere between Jeff Buckley and Ben Christophers. Beautifully emotional honest song writing with a kind of dejected euphoria, the happy/sad fineline thing negotiated perfectly.
5 years on and he has crafted a second album (Revenge Songs) which is on my birthday wish list for the beginning of next month!
I think he is on his own label, I'm going to order his record from his myspace site, (or get a relative to do so for my birthday next month! - September 10th by the way!!)
The net is helping people like Jacob find his audience without reliance on labels that can't be bothered to invest time and marketing into someone who actually has the talent and deserves promoting!
I hope he can sustain a career with a small Indie label that will let him make the records he wants to make.

My Trusted MOGs
Nice! I ordered one of those Ltd edition "Revenge Songs" album a few months ago through his myspace. It's a great album. Shine A Light, Hold Your Hair Back and Zero Integrity are my highlights.
