Gil Mantera and Ultimate Donny's vocodor-abusing, slightly fucked concoction of glam-pop may seem somewhat harmless and blah, considering the precedent set by Andrew W.K. and the like. Most will find themselves wondering, "They're joking, right?" upon the first listen. Then they see the live show.Granted, my first exposure was at the live show, making each subsequent listen at home a pretty hysterical, albeit biased, flashback to a night of inebriation (not so much me, the band), scantily-clad Party Dreamers not really even playing instruments, and the most enthusiastic crowd I have yet seen at a show.Pat Carney of The Black Keys shows his loyalty by signing these fellow Ohioans as the first to his label,
Audio Eagle, and I can only imagine Mr. and Mrs. Mantera cursing him for encouraging their sons' behavior.
See them live.MP3: "Shadow Grip"Video: "Elmo's Wish"
