Self Involved Narcissists? I simply couldnt care less...

The story on this weeks beg, borrow or steal album:I was like 16. It was late '97... yeah, that dates me, I know... not as much as some moggers though, so s'all good. I found myself at a semi-local record store (about 30 minutes from home) buying a sale used copy of *The Dandy Warhols Come Down*, having spent the past three weeks of my life humming the single "Not If You Were The Last Junkie On Earth" because MTV still played some decent music in those days. Hours later... Sitting in my room, I silently cursed mtv as upon my 3rd listen, the album was STILL not sinking its hooks into me at all... where was the blissful alt-pop sound that the single had embodied? No where, aside, of course, on that track itself, and a few others... but mostly the album was a collection of indie rock droners and opium den jams.... I felt cheated out of (I think 7 bucks..)Fast forward like 3 years. Sitting in my new apartment, unpacking and listening to my favorite album. The one I listen to in the morning... the one I listen to as background noise... the one I listen to immediately after the new and shiny has worn off of whatever cd I bought last.... yeah, that's right... *Dandy Warhols Come Down* had, at some point, and I'm really not sure when, become my honest to god, FAVORITE album. Now at 24, its still one of my all time top 5, or so, albums, and definately a huge influence in the way I play, write, and my general musical taste.... its wierd how things change...I'm still not sure why the cd didnt get pawned off on my little sister or taken back to the record store for credit towards more used music... but I'm sure glad it didnt.
