Not what I would expect to find myself listening to, and yet here I am. The songs on this album caught me buy surprise - they're heavy, but not too heavy for my normally mellow taste. I think that with Wino's legendary skill and sound, he's bringing the doom to new listeners with this album. Just sayin, caught me by surpirse in a good way.

Wino is one of the nicest and most interesting individuals you will ever meet. This album is strong, gritty and sweet all at once. It's a departure from his heavier doom projects, but the content and his voice are anything but soft. It's an essential piece for fans and a really great primer for folks who are looking to get a closer look at Wino...try it.

I've been a fan since their first album, so my opinion may be a little skewed. That said, this record is fantastic and should be listened to repeatedly. Each time a new layer is revealed - typical for Okkervil and wonderful. So glad to have yet another notch the belt of my love and admiration for this group.
