Side Projects-The Dave After Tomorrow

Posted over 5 years ago
Ok, ok, ok....so the real reason I'm writing this is to plug the next edition of my favorite radio show, The Dave After Tomorrow, on Atlanta's 92.9 Dave FM. It's gonna be all about soloists or band member's side projects.....think Ben Gibbard with Deathcab For Cutie AND The Postal Service....or Stevie Nicks with a solo AND Fleetwood Mac. It should be interesting to hear some unexpected artists who have a little somethin', somethin' going on the side. AND....Frankie Goes To Hollywood was once a banned song?! I had no idea what it was even about until I read the lyrics a few minutes ago. A few weeks ago, The Dave After Tomorrow was about banned and censored songs and there were soooo many. It was a little history lesson in the progression of the advisory label system. Really interesting stuff. For those of you who don't know....or those youngsters who don't know, google the "filthy fifteen" and take a look. A couple of the songs are really surprising, and the other 10....well, those aren't not so surprising. Who remembers the first album to carry the "parental advisory" label? This is still a huge debate to some about 1st Amendment rights. It totally sounds like I'm kissing ass here...but who cares....thanks to DAVEFM for the Deathcab tickets this Friday.I hadn't posted in a while.....so....i had to write something.

  1. Spencer Owen says Somebody's posted about this show before, I think, and it sounded really interesting then, and sounds interesting now! Why in god's name was that song banned?

  2. Worth4Camels says well, Spencer, that was me before too, I'm a davefm junkie ;-)....the lyrics to that song seem awful...suggestive and i was sort of shocked but amused at the same time that i didn't realize as a kid what he was saying. You can listen on Thursday nights from 7-10pm est at dave.fm.
